A major metropolitan region sought to pilot a Smart City testbed integrating telecoms, energy, and transport infrastructure. The goal: to demonstrate the potential of IoT networks in improving urban efficiency and sustainability — within a tight delivery window.

 I defined the technical and operational blueprint for the testbed, aligning multiple vendors, city authorities, and service providers.

This involved:

• Designing network architecture to connect sensors, vehicles, and energy systems. 
• Establishing testing and validation protocols to ensure reliability at scale.
• Creating stakeholder engagement models between government, telecom, and energy sectors. 
• Ensuring compliance with safety, data privacy, and environmental standards.  

• Successfully launched Canada’s first cross-sector Smart City pilot.
• Framework adopted as a national model for future IoT-enabled urban projects.
• Improved energy and transport efficiency by up to 20% in pilot zones.
• Strengthened city partnerships, unlocking follow-on investment opportunities.
