From digitising 1G services in New Zealand to providing a neutral host 4G/5G services in the London Underground network. Realising network connectivity in hard-to-reach areas for public and operational use cases (E.G onboard trains in an underground environment). I have completed EME compliance auditing, managed data centre builds, site and tower infrastructure building, through to operations and end-of-life equipment decommissioning. I am continually surprised by the rapid evolution of standards and equipment, with shortening life expectancies of systems.

The effective use of renewable energy has been a constant underlying theme through my working career. From utilising solar power generation in remote broadcast sites in New Zealand, designing and building wind/solar powered community radio stations in East Timor, to designing a solar site solution for car parking in the UK, the effective use of a renewable energy has been an “energising” solution to develop and use. The rapid evolution of these renewable energy products throughout my career to date has been amazing, and I see the pace of evolution accelerating currently as the World looks to transition to renewable energies.

My broadcast engineering experience spans the deployment and operation TV and Radio infrastructure covering small pockets of population through to HF radio transmission systems providing coverage across thousands of kilometres of sparsely populated land and vast oceans. I installed and commissioned Australia’s first digital television (DTV) service and have delivered renewable energy solutions through the integration of solar- and wind-powered community FM radio stations in East Timor. In addition, I developed and implemented an environmental management plan to support the sustainable operation of AM transmission services in Cambodia.
